In the developing world, just as in Canada, parents want the best possible education for their children.
Education creates boundless social and economic opportunities and can break the destructive cycle of poverty. But, it is not enough to build more schools. Education is a continuum. Canada and the AKDN have partnered in a broad spectrum of programs: from early childhood to post-secondary education.
These investments, often made in partnership with Canadian universities, have been able to provide poor and geographically remote communities with a continuous ladder of relevant learning opportunities.

Safia’s mother, who is illiterate helped to build a community-run pre-school in her remote village in Zanzibar so that Safia and her classmates would have a chance at an education. “They are prepared from the beginning,” she says.
