FILM SCREENING:
Let The Beauty We Love Be What We Do
Let The Beauty We Love Be What We Do -- A 35-minute film produced by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture was presented in conjunction with Bridges that Unite on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 12:00pm.
A remarkable journey from the deserts of West Africa to the foothills of the Himalayas, this film describes the work of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in the Islamic world and how the preservation of indigenous culture can restore lives and livelihoods. Witness ancient villages and historic cities restored; abandoned monuments given new life; old skills relearned and new discoveries made; economically depressed communities revived; music and verse once forgotten performed again, and masterpieces of Islamic art on display for the first time.
BRIDGES THAT UNITE exhibition was in Vancouver from June 11-22, 2008 at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews.
BRIDGES THATUNITE is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation Canada.
